SECURITY REQUIREMENTS FOR CONVENTION CENTER ACCESS

Due to the fact that the convention center is embedded in the port, federal TSA security requirements apply. You must show your government issued picture identification (ID) -- PASSPORT or DRIVER'S LICENSE -- at all security checkpoints to gain access to the Convention Center area of the Port of Fort Lauderdale. Your Microscopy and Microanalysis 2007 name badge is not sufficient ID for entry to the Convention Center area of the port.

• Shuttle Bus: Shuttle service to/from Microscopy and Microanalysis 2007 official hotels, will provide the quickest way to arrive on time for your meetings, due to separate routing into the Convention Center area of the port. ID will be checked as you enter the bus. (checkpoint A on map)
• Pedestrians: Those walking to the Convention Center will be met at the pedestrian gate (checkpoint B on map) by a security agent who will require you to show your government issued picture ID.
• Cars: Drivers and all passengers will be required to show a government issued picture ID to gain access to the Convention Center area of the port. This is required EACH time you drive to the Convention Center. (checkpoints C and D on map) PLAN AHEAD AND ALLOW EXTRA TIME:
• Check before you leave your hotel to make sure you have your government issued picture ID.
• The process is like badging-in to your company or university. Show ID and you are in. On the other hand, this is probably the safest venue you will ever be in.

We recommend that conference attendees avail themselves of the busing provided to and from the Convention Center. While the distances involved in walking from hotels 2 & 4 to the convention center are modest, it is prudent to consider the high, semi-tropical sun angle and the chance of late afternoon thunderstorms.
