Blocks of rooms at reduced rates have been reserved for those attending Microscopy & Microanalysis '99; see hotel description on pages 02-03 and the map on page 18. These rooms and rates can be reserved through the Portland Housing Bureau by following the instructions on the following Adobe PDF File. After June 28, 1999, arrangements must be made directly with the hotels. You are encouraged to book rooms in advance at the reduced rates.
Portland is served by the Portland International Airport. The Portland Convention Center and hotels are located about 15-20 minutes away from the airport via taxi or airport shuttle. Taxi fares are currently $15-18/passenger. Shuttle van services (via Raz Transportation) are currently $9.00 one way and $17.25 roundtrip.
Several agencies are located within the Portland/metro area which will come to your hotel to provide child care services. Rates vary so you will need to check with each company. Double Tree Hotel-Lloyd Center (#1)
This is the Headquarters Hotel for Microscopy & Microanalysis '99. The hotel is within walking distance of the Oregon Convention Center and just 15 minutes from the airport via complimentary shuttle service (pick up every 30 minutes in front of airport). The MAX Light Rail System runs directly from the hotel to other parts of the city. The hotel offers fine dining, a Mexican restaurant with a selection of microbrews, swimming pool and exercise room.
The hotel is located directly across the street from the convention center. It offers non-smoking rooms, Cable TV with HBO and Cinemax, wet bar and refrigerator, and free local phone calls.
