The Sunday Night Reception will be held this year at the fabulous Jefferson Hotel, just a few short blocks from the Greater Richmond Convention Center. Enjoy a sumptuous Southern buffet at one of the most historic hotels in Virginia! Take in the decor, architecture and ambience while catching up with friends and colleagues.
Since 1895, The Jefferson Hotel has been recognized by as Richmond's grandest hotel and one of the finest in America. Known for its genuinely friendly service, luxurious guestrooms, breathtaking architecture and elegant decor, The Jefferson Hotel is reminiscent of a more gracious era. Birth of a Nation: Jamestown to Yorktown — CANCELLED

Jamestown, the site of America's birth in 1607 has two parks that tell the story. One is Jamestown Island, the site of the original settlement with its state-of-the-art archeological museum; the second--the reconstructed Jamestown Settlement, where the story of the people who founded Jamestown comes to life. Here visitors can board replicas of the three ships that sailed from England to Virginia in 1607, explore life-size re-creations of the colonists' fort and a Powhatan Indian village. Lunch on your own in the Jamestown Cafe followed by a ride along one of Virginia's great the scenic roads, the Colonial Parkway, to the Yorktown National Battlefield Park, where Revolution was won. Stroll along the newly refurbished waterfront with its pleasant variety of shops before returning to Richmond.
The Richmond Discoveries Tour

This tour features an overview of Richmond's historical and cultural attractions. From the comfort of your motorcoach, you will see Richmond's graciously restored historic neighborhoods including: The Capitol Square; Shockoe Slip, a cobblestone restaurant district; Church Hill, noted for its unique cast iron patterns; the riverfront and the famed Monument Avenue, one of America's most beautiful boulevards. The highlight of the tour is an historical reenactment at St. John's Church of the Second Virginia Convention of March 1775. Professional actors in 1770's attire portray ten of the "founding fathers" who participated in the animated convention debates culminating in Patrick Henry's "Give me liberty or give me death" speech. This is your chance to witness the beginnings of the American Revolution.

An hour west of Richmond is Jefferson Country. Spend a day in the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. This tour includes stops at; Ashlawn — James Monroe's home and Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson. Lunch is at historic Michie Tavern. The Tavern's dining rooms feature hearty fare offered by servers in period attire. The southern buffet is based on 18th century recipes.

The year is 1862. You have just arrived in the Capitol of a new nation where you are greeted by historical characters dressed in the attire and discussing events of the day. Spirits are high, food is plentiful and the music is upbeat. After dinner you will be swept back to the era of the first truly American music with tunes on banjo and fiddle filling the air. Join us for an evening of fun and song as a great addition to your visit to Richmond.
Plantation Country: Old and New

A short distance from Richmond along Virginia's oldest scenic by-way lies plantation country. Early James River Plantations are the oldest in America. Your sojourn will take you to Berkeley, home of President William Henry Harrison and site of the first Thanksgiving and Shirley Plantation, home of the Hill and Carter families for over 300 years. Shirley was also the home of the Robert E. Lee's mother. Both of these homes are still working farms today and are privately owned. The New Kent Winery is 17,000 square feet in size. The winery was constructed from materials reclaimed from buildings and structures well over 100 years old. The result is a modern winery with the latest equipment but with its roots firmly planted in the past located around a development designed especially for country living. They currently offer six wines. A box lunch is included.

Journey just north of Richmond to Hanover Court House & Tavern to see where Patrick Henry made his first mark as the "Voice of the Revolution." Dine on fine regional dishes at Michelle's at the historic tavern. Following dinner "General Washington," arrives at the tavern on his way to Yorktown in 1781. You will have the privilege of a face to face meeting with him.
Richmond from Jefferson to Lee: A Walking Tour

At St. Paul's Church you can sit in the pews of Lee and Davis and admire the beauty of the Tiffany stained glass memorial windows. Enjoy the quiet beauty of Hollywood Cemetery, the final resting place of Jefferson Davis, J.E.B. Stuart, and many other confederate notables, was well as two U.S. Presidents — Monroe and Tyler. Colonial Williamsburg is a complete "living history" city and is a great introduction to the unique world of the 18th century. All the conveniences of the 21st Century however are only a few steps away on the edge of the colonial district in Merchants Square with its great selection of shops and restaurants.
