James LeBeau earned his B.S. in Materials Science & Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2006 and his PhD from the University of California Santa Barbara in 2010. Now an Associate Professor in the Department of Materials Science & Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, his research focuses on applying and developing quantitative scanning transmission electron microscopy techniques to determine the atomic structure and chemistry of functional oxides, structural alloys, and electronic materials.
