Freshwater amphipod

Amphipods are microcrustacean scavangers found in almost all aquatic environments, and they are a food source for tadpoles and fry. Their dietary preference for brown algae tends to benefit green and red algae. Specimen was photographed in water using dark-field light microscopy.
