Midge larva

Tracheal bladders of the midge larva of genus Chaoborus, also known as the glass worm, act as bubbles which regulate the depth of immersion. These larvae are active predators, feeding on small crustaceans (daphnia, cyclops) and young mosquito larvae. Dark-field and polarized light microscopy.
